Daytime TV darling Fern Britton has revealed that she was victimised by a sex attacker, three decades ago. I know what you're thinking but no, the attack predated John Leslie's TV career... *snigger*

When I saw the report, I thought I'll bet Fern has a book to push! and I was right.

The This Morning co-presenter's disclosure is a double-pronged attack on the psyches of daytime telly fans. First of all, stir up a little intrigue re the rape allegation. Then garner sympathy, undo some of the damage done by her failure to mention that her dramatic weight loss was helped along by a gastric band op.

That's her right, of course. I guess the complainers are envious of the advertising opportunities it brought her.

You ought to read the report concerning the rape, though. A bizzare set of circumstances to say the least. Traumatic enough to haunt her for thirty years, and to detail in a book. But curiously not quite traumatic enough to report to police at the time.
